In 1923, Germany (then known as the Weimar Republic) destabilized by their WWI defeat and subsequent social collapse, underwent a severe financial crisis that left their currency virtually worthless. Prices rose so sharply and so severely that Germans brought baskets and bags full of money to stores simply to buy necessities. Money was not counted but instead weighed, and lower denominations, pushed out of circulation by ever-higher denominations, were burned to keep warm in place of coal and firewood. Images conjured by the monetary nightmare gave rise to the euphemism "wheelbarrows full of money" to describe such a devastating currency devaluation, known as hyperinflation.

Now, you can own a genuine, 100% authentic 10 million mark note printed during this crisis along with a shirt for the fictitious "Weimar Wheelbarrow Co."--a sure conversation starter for this fascinating episode of economic history. Additionally, you will get a flyer with detailed information about the crisis and what led to it.

Note: Mark banknotes are in circulated, but good condition. The picture is representative of typical condition. All come in a protective sleeve.
